Oh, Look! began as there were few options for hospitals with regard to newborn photography. There was competition, but it was all the same.

In 2001, the second largest birthing center in North Carolina resolved to implement their OWN system. They were already paying for an internal staff member to take the photos, but getting little back for their efforts. Studio 361, Inc. was contracted to write a program that would handle the entire production process, from selection of photos to printing of proofs and packages, to uploading web photos and tracking daily receipts.

Upon learning more of 'why' the hospital chose to do this, and what few options they had, it was obvious that a program like this would be valuable to other hospitals with similar issues. With that came the birth of Oh, Look!

CHANGING MINDSETS

For decades newborn photography has been handled in one manner - externally. Hospitals are used to the 'way things have always been done.'

The challenge has been for hospitals, volunteers, and/or auxiliaries to see the 'business' side of the service and the ultimate benefits of bringing such a program in-house.

During the past several years we have spent time educating hospitals on the overall premise of the Oh, Look! program - that you CAN run this program more efficiently on
your own, and easily improve patient satisfaction and income from the first day.
